Brief
The task was to propose strategies for densification and intensification of an urban neighborhood, which is the Macarthur place precinct in Carlton. The aim was to plan and rethink how people should live in terms of population density and green space access, in a world where sea levels, droughts and daily temperatures are rising.
THE
Project
In terms of massing, the typical rectangular block was used as a starting point. Then they were shifted and increased in terms of the levels to accommodate for the program. The volumes are then trimmed to ensure sun access. Sustainability was also taken into consideration by the use of landscaping. Drawing inspiration from the typical laneways we often see in the city of Melbourne, laneways were adopted in the design of the house as opportunities for interaction
